ABOUT.ME

I enjoy working and collaborating with stakeholders (product managers, designers, other engineers, etc) in multidisciplinary product teams. I'm passionate about learning so I'm always looking for an opportunity to learn something new. I'm a big fan of clean, well-tested and well-documented code.

I use agentic engineering daily — reaching for it where it fits the job, and keen to keep picking up new approaches as long as they actually make the work better.

Outside work, you can find me reading about stoicism, travelling, at the gym or recommending a Spotify playlist to random people.

    Designed and shipped the migration from password to OTP authentication across controllers, LiveView, and Redis-backed sessions — lifting sign-up conversion from ~40% to ~80%. Owned a gRPC integration that replaced static per-feed code with a self-serve admin portal, and shipped a hierarchical employer data model for multi-brand companies. Drove discovery on LLM-powered content moderation with a custom Elixir eval harness, and led a test-coverage initiative from ~40% to over 50%.

    Shipped compliance-critical features for Florence's Canada and France launches, accelerating how quickly new nurses could complete compliance checks and become bookable. Took on tech-lead responsibilities — leading projects from scoping with product and design through to delivery — and mentored junior engineers through pairing and code review.

    Backend Software Engineer · Ruby on Rails / AWS Step Functions / Terraform

    Designed API contracts in Swagger and implemented the underlying AWS Step Function workflows orchestrating backend services and serverless components, alongside building and maintaining Rails microservices on Kubernetes. Contributed to ongoing migration work moving functionality off the legacy Rails monolith into smaller services.

    Full-stack Software Engineer · Ruby on Rails / React / TypeScript

    Shipped features across two major commercial launches — Unlimited (subscription) and ExpertTracks (bundled professional courses) — both core revenue lines for the platform. Contributed to a sustained frontend modernisation effort, porting legacy HAML pages to React/TypeScript, and built and maintained third-party integrations (Yotpo, Iterable). Drove backend performance improvements, reducing N+1 queries and using Scout APM to identify regressions in production hot paths.
